Facelift surgery is the most powerful weapon against facial aging. Although multiple nonsurgical solutions like BOTOX® and dermal fillers have hit the market over the last two decades, the results are temporary with two or more procedures necessary each year to maintain results.
One reason these minimally invasive treatments are so popular is the surgical risk of scarring. The idea of a facial scar makes many patients hesitate when considering a facelift.
With extensive training and vast experience in facial plastic surgery, double board-certified Dr. Oleh Slupchynskyj has developed a less invasive facelift procedure which reduces the length of incisions, the time of recovery, and the risk of scarring, called the SLUPlift™.
The Traditional Facelift
Although current facelift procedures are an improvement over the early facelifts which left a wind-blown appearance, the treatment process still creates some scarring risk. The surgery entails general anesthesia followed by an incision starting at the temple in front of the ear. Here the incision will trace the hairline around the ear to the lobe area, giving the surgeon access to the underlying tissue known as the SMAS, which they can reposition and tighten.
After trimming away excess skin, the surgeon will close with fine sutures. The procedure may take as long as four hours followed by a two-week recovery period.
The traditional facelift has proven results lasting up to ten years. Scarring is limited to the area behind the ear and at the hairline. A light pink incision line will be evident right after surgery but should diminish to a less conspicuous light white after several weeks.
The SLUPlift™
Dr. Slupchynskyj offers a less invasive facelift procedure with shorter incisions and less downtime, which is exclusive to the Aesthetic Institute of New York and New Jersey. Treatment also provides the added benefit of minimal risk for scarring.
The amazing technique allows Dr. Slupchynskyj the flexibility to adjust skin tension to fit the patient’s aesthetic goals. This also permits him to work on the neck area and lower face, diminishing sagging jowls around the chin.
The patented SLUPlift™ achieves many of the same goals as conventional facelift surgery, with a less invasive technique using a shorter incision around the earlobe
With this approach, Dr. Slupchynskyj can correct the underlying tissue and skin with sutures and microneedles, instead of traditional instruments which may cause trauma. The SLUPlift™ delivers best results for mild to moderate wrinkle removal, with much less swelling.
With less work at the skin surface and shorter incisions, experience fewer problems are present during recovery. Dr. Slupchynskyj employs local anesthesia for less risk against complications during surgery. The surgery lasts from one to two hours.
Short Recovery and Minimal Risk of Scarring
Another advantage of the SLUPlift™ procedure is the short recovery time. While traditional facelift surgery requires up to two weeks of rest, patients who have the SLUPlift™ may return to work after one week. Because the patient does not require general anesthesia, the healing process begins immediately. Minimal bruising and swelling allow for visible results after just a few days.
As hair loss, scarring, and “Pixie Ear” (earlobe deformity) are possible drawbacks with traditional facelifts, more and more patients in the NY and NJ areas are choosing the SLUPlift™.
