A major concern of all patients when undergoing plastic surgery is that their results do not turn out natural-looking. This is a possibility that most often occurs when a doctor is not adequately trained or experienced. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Oleh Slupchynskyj, has the experience and the knowledge to work with his patients to create the best, most natural-looking results for their facial features. When it comes to facelift surgery, Dr. Slupchynskyj knows that natural facelift results not only encompass tightening of the skin, but also include overall tightening of the muscular and soft tissue layer, known as the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS), below it. By contouring the deeper structures of the face Dr. Slupchynskyj can achieve the most natural facelift results for our patients.
Innovative Procedures
Our institution has created the incredibly innovative and patented procedure, the SLUPlift™. This procedure follows the general guidelines of a conventional Facelift, but with newer and more advanced techniques. These techniques include a small incision around the earlobe in comparison to the longer incision around the entire ear.
Your surgeon will be locating the superficial muscular and aponeurotic system along with the platysma muscle, which are the areas of the lower jaw and upper chest. Once these areas are located, the surgeon will use sutures inserted into the tissue and will then be able to tighten that area. This procedure is finished with micro-sutures. The SLUPlift™ provides a more youthful and natural look due to the smaller incisions. The smaller incision provides less scarring, better recovery, and overall a better look after healing!
Choose a Trusted Surgeon
Choosing a board-certified and experienced surgeon that you feel comfortable with should always be a top priority when considering facial plastic surgery. Dr. Slupchynskyj is Double Board Certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. In your first consultation, it is beneficial to ask your surgeon for before & after examples of his/ or her’s work to get a better feel for their style and for what your results could resemble. It is also important that you ask them any and all questions that you might have concerning your procedure. Stress to them the desires you have for your procedure. This is your body and your procedure at the end of the day and you should make sure your surgeon can offer you realistic results you desire.
Set Reasonable Goals
The innovations and technology available in the plastic surgery profession have led to less noticeable incisions and better results. This bodes well for patients who would like more natural-looking results and whom don’t want to necessarily promote the fact that they have had surgery. However, it is necessary to understand what can and can’t be achieved going into your surgery—it is important to have realistic expectations regarding your results.
Choose the Right Procedure for You
This is an important process, and one that should be researched thoroughly. Your surgeon will also go over your options and what techniques they feel will best fit the look you ultimately want to achieve. There are many different techniques and options for procedures, however, you should be well-aware of all of them and decide with your surgeon which one will provide you the best and most natural-looking results for your desires.
Recovery
The recovery process is extremely important in achieving the results that you want. One of the best advantages of the SLUPlift™ procedure is a better, smoother recovery timeline. Patients are able to return to work in a little over a week and this procedure also allows for quicker and more visible results.
The days leading up to your procedure and the days after are extremely important. It is imperative that you get plenty of rest before and after your procedure. It is also important that you stay hydrated and nourished with nutrient-rich foods. Water, tea, and clean/whole foods are the best way to supply your body with the nourishment that it needs to recover. It is also important to lightly exercise following your procedure to avoid the potential of blood clots. The most important part of the recovery process is following your surgeon’s directions and if you feel like something is not right, contact your surgeon.
Communication
It is imperative that you stay in contact with your doctor after your procedure and during your recovery process. This will also include follow-up appointments. These are crucial to catch any issues that might arise and for your surgeon to track your progress.
