NECKLIFT PLASTIC SURGERY (PLATYSMAPLASTY)
Aging makes its first appearance not only in the face and but most often in the neck area first. The contours of the neck area lose their youthful definition and firmness and can appear as what is known as the “Turkey Waddle”. The platysma muscle, which runs from the lower jaw area to the collarbone, sags and appears almost cord like due to chronic contraction and aging. An otherwise youthful face is aged dramatically in this case and often makes one feel self conscious and certainly older than one is and feels. WHAT IS NECKLIFT PLASTIC SURGERY?
Necklift Surgery, also known as Platysmaplasty, is often done in conjunction with Neck Liposuction and Facelift Surgery to create optimum results in the aging neck and face for a total facial makeover. Necklift Surgery is an excellent solution for those just wanting to rejuvenate the neck and jawline. Dr. Slupchynskyj creates small incisions in the natural creases of the skin under the chin and below the earlobes, making them very inconspicuous, almost invisible. Sections of skin are trimmed, lifted into place and sutured. A section of fat and muscle is then removed and the ends are sutured together at the mid-anterior (front) section of the neck. The skin can be brought together under or behind the ear to further firm up appearance of the neck.

IS NECKLIFT SURGERY RIGHT FOR ME?
As always, good health and realistic expectations are necessary for any successful result in Cosmetic surgery. Necklift Surgery is an excellent option if you have “turkey” neck, excess skin and fat in the neck area, and jowling. During your consultation, Dr. Slupchynskyj will evaluate the state of your neck and jaw area and will review the best options to achieve your desired result to include the amount of skin, muscle and/or fat that should be removed and tightened. Technique, precautions, and any risks which may affect surgical outcome, will be discussed.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING AND IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING MY NECKLIFT SURGERY PROCEDURE?
Necklift Surgery is performed under local anesthesia and light sedation. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and generally lasts one to two hours unless combined with other procedures. It is normal to experience a degree of swelling and possible bruising from seven and up to 10 days post surgery, so this is only temporary. During the recovery period, you will wear a compression garment for several days which helps to improve blood circulation, minimize swelling, and provide support to the neck.
ARE THERE ANY RISKS TO NECKLIFT SURGERY? WHAT IS MY RECOVERY TIME?
Dr. Slupchynskyj will advise you to avoid any strenuous activity which includes but is not limited to lifting, straining and bending until he is confident you are healed. Dr. Slupchynskyj will also advise when you can return to normal activity, which for most patients, is within two weeks post surgery. Even though swelling takes a few weeks to subside, you should start to see the results within seven days post surgery.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS OF NECKLIFT SURGERY LAST?
Necklift Surgery typically last from 5 to 10 years depending upon your age and health.
