EYELID PLASTIC SURGERY/BLEPHAROPLASTY
Eyes are one of the trademarks of facial beauty and are considered the “windows of the soul”. They are used by all to judge character, appearance, attitude, and state-of-mind. In many cases, they are the first and last feature looked upon. It is no wonder that Eyelid Surgery is consistently one of the top Cosmetic procedures performed today. Nothing defines aging more than "tired eyes". Droopy eyelids can make you look older than your years as well as in some cases, impair vision.
WHAT IS EYELID OR BLEPHAROPLASTY SURGERY?
Blepharoplasty refers to eyelid surgery and is designed to remove excess fat, with skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty eliminates puffiness and bags under the eyes that make you look worn and tired. Though Blepharoplasty is often performed as a single procedure, Dr. Slupchynskyj may also recommend a Browlift, Facelift, or Skin Resurfacing to achieve the best results.

IS BLEPHAROPLASTY EYELID SURGERY RIGHT FOR ME?
First, good health and realistic expectations are necessary for any successful result in Cosmetic surgery. Blepharoplasty removes excess fat, skin and muscle, which results in a refreshed, and rejuvenated look and firmed eye area. No one will again ask you if you are tired when you in fact are not!
During your consultation, Dr. Slupchynskyj will explain in depth what you can expect from Blepharoplasty and take a complete medical history. Factors to be considered include age, skin type, and extent of vision obstruction, if any. Blepharoplasty cannot reverse fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, which Skin Resurfacing will correct and be done in conjunction with Blepharoplasty. Nor can Blepharoplasty elevate and correct sagging eyebrows, which are best addressed with the Brow Lift procedure and can be added as a complementary procedure.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING AND IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING MY BLEPHAROPLASTY EYELID PROCEDURE?
Blepharoplasty Eyelid surgery is performed under local anesthesia and light sedation. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and requires minimal after care. Stitches are removed on the 3rd day and recovery time is between three and seven days. For the upper eyelid, the incisions are made in a natural skin crease so upon healing, there are no scars. The lower eyelid incision is made on the inside of the eyelid and occasionally just under the lower lash.
A Transconjunctaeval Blepharoplasty procedure is performed to eliminate puffiness caused primarily by excess fat. In this procedure, the incision is made inside the lower eyelid, and the excess fatty material is removed. Sutures used are invisible to the eye, self-dissolve and leave no visible scar.
Blepharoplasty Eyelid Surgery can take from one to two hours depending upon the extent of the case.
ARE THERE ANY RISKS TO BLEPHAROPLASTY EYELID SURGERY? WHAT IS MY RECOVERY TIME?
Fortunately complications with Blepharoplasty Eyelid Surgery are infrequent. There is usually temporary blurry vision immediately following surgery due to the eye drops placed in your eyes. You may also experience minor bruising and swelling, which is normal, and resolves in three to seven days depending upon your health and age.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS OF BLEPHAROPLASTY EYELID SURGERY LAST?
Blepharoplasty Eyelid Surgery results can last from 10 and up to 15 years depending upon your age and health.
