WHAT IS OTOPLASTY EAR SURGERY?
Dr. Slupchynskyj begins surgery with an incision behind the ear, in the natural fold where the ear is joined to the head. Depending on the case, Dr. Slupchynskyj will remove specific amounts of cartilage and skin needed to achieve your desired outcome. Often, Dr. Slupchynskyj will trim the cartilage, shape it into an attractive form and then pin the cartilage back with permanent sutures to secure the ear in the desired position.

IS OTOPLASTY EAR SURGERY RIGHT FOR ME?
As always, good health and realistic expectations are necessary for any successful result in Cosmetic surgery. With a young child or adolescent, a positive attitude is paramount on the part of the parents, which assists the child in understanding that Otoplasty Ear Surgery is a positive experience for them. For adults, they must consider that cartilage is firmer in adulthood and less pliable to shaping. During your consultation, Dr. Slupchynskyj will closely examine your ear structure, symmetry and thoroughly describe which technique he believes will correctly address your concerns. Risks, which may affect surgical outcome, will be discussed.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING AND IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING MY OTOPLASTY PROCEDURE?
Otoplasty ear Surgery is performed under local anesthesia and light sedation. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis. Results are immediate. You may experience some swelling and bruising, which is normal, and will subside in a matter of days. You will go home with a sof dressing or turban-type bandage about your head, worn to cover and protect your ears after surgery. After the bandage is removed, you may wear a headband pulled down over your ears while sleeping in order to protect them for another two weeks.
ARE THERE ANY RISKS TO OTOPLASTY EAR SURGERY? WHAT IS MY RECOVERY TIME?
Otoplasty Surgery does not alter hearing ability. Dr. Slupchynskyj will advise you to avoid any strenuous activity, which includes but is not limited to lifting, straining and bending until he is confident you are healed. Dr. Slupchynskyj will also advise when you can return to normal activity, which for most patients, is within two weeks post surgery. Most patients are able to return to school or work within three to five days. Incisions, located behind each ear, are not visible and are placed in a natural crease.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS OF OTOPLASTY EAR SURGERY LAST?
