NECK LIPOSUCTION (SUBMENTAL LIPOSUCTION)
A shapely neck is admired by cultures throughout the world. A young and firm neck draws attention to the shape of the chin and face; however, not all necks are shaped alike. Whether because of age or genetic predisposition, fatty deposits gather in the neck, resulting in a loss of shape in the chin and neck. Often done in conjunction with a Necklift or Face Lift, Neck Liposuction, also known as Submental Liposuction, gently removes the sagging fatty tissue that has collected in the lower face and underneath the chin.
WHAT IS NECK LIPOSUCTION?
Neck Liposuction permanently removes fat deposits from the neck. Neck Liposuction is often done in conjunction with Necklift Surgery (Platysmaplasty) for superior results in defining and firming the neck and jaw line. Neck Liposuction is an excellent option for patients who have too much fullness in the neck resulting from excess fat and skin. During the procedure, Dr. Slupchynskyj creates small incisions in the natural creases of the skin under the chin and below the earlobes, making them very inconspicuous, almost invisible. He then uses a cannula (thin wand) to gently suction out the fat. Some neck liposuctions tighten the skin using a laser from inside the incision; preventing sagging in areas that neck liposuction has been used to remove fat.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING AND IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING MY NECK LIPOSUCTION PROCEDURE?
Neck Liposuction is generally performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. You will be awake during the procedure but anesthetized, comfortable and relaxed. The procedure takes 30 minutes to one hour itself. If you have multiple procedures taking place, surgery time will be dependent upon the procedure(s) added. It is normal to experience a degree of swelling and possible bruising for seven to 10 days post surgery, so this is only temporary. During the recovery period, you will wear a compression garment around the chin area which helps to improve blood circulation, minimize swelling, and provide support to the neck.
ARE THERE ANY RISKS TO NECK LIPOSUCTION? WHAT IS MY RECOVERY TIME?
Our Neck Liposuction patients usually report minimal postoperative discomfort.
Dr. Slupchynskyj will advise you to avoid any strenuous activity which includes but is not limited to lifting, straining and bending until he is confident you are healed. Dr. Slupchynskyj will also advise when you can return to normal activity, which for most patients, is within one week post surgery. Even though swelling takes a few weeks to subside, you should start to see the results within seven days post surgery.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS OF NECK LIPOSUCTION?
